Daniel “Danny” Wayne Knoll

January 17, 1965 - December 7, 2023

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date

Daniel ‘Danny’ Knoll crossed over to become our guardian angel on Thursday December 7, 2023, in peace and comfort with the love of his family by his side.  Fighting an unimaginable fight against Glioblastoma, Danny/Dad never swayed from being the bravest, most courageous warrior he has always proven to be.

Born and raised in Barrie, ON, Danny grew up in the north-east end of the city making many childhood memories at Maple Grove Public School and Barrie North Collegiate.  From endless hours riding dirt bikes with his best friends, to late night and early mornings honing his passion for hockey with the Barrie Minor Hockey Association, Danny always accomplished anything he set his mind to and enjoyed the little things life had to offer.

Danny achieved many accolades during his life journey.  When it came to his career, Danny dedicated 26 years to ensuring quality at Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, ON.  One of the biggest accolades happened to be having the trip of a lifetime to visit the Corporate Honda Headquarters in Japan in 2008.  Although Danny was unable to celebrate retirement (February 2024), besides his home he always felt he could call Honda and the special friendships he made there his safe place.  His hard work ethic day in and day out will never go unrecognized for the life he was able to provide for his family.

Danny’s desire to live life to its fullest is a quality everyone looked up to him for.  The signature Danny laugh itself could pin smiles on faces in a heartbeat.  Whether it was trolling for fish up north or flying down south to hit the Caribbean beaches, his zest for enjoying life through hobbies he loved with the people he loved was priceless.  Karaoke king, fire master, wing connoisseur, the list goes on.

Danny recently celebrated 33 years of marriage to wife Wendy where their partnership and love met no bounds.  The unconditional love they had for one another, and their family will forever be felt.  A devoted father to twin girls Jordyn and Mackenzie, and son-in-law Jarrett Fennell, Danny was and will continue to be an unmatched role model.  Son of Yvonne Chartrand and stepson of Allan Chartrand, Danny will be missed dearly.  He will be forever remembered by his nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  It is with comfort we know Danny will now be reunited with his father George Knoll and many family and friends above.

“It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.  How much you can take and keep moving forward.  That’s how winning is done!” – Rocky Balboa.

For those that were impacted by Danny’s love and laughter, a Celebration of Life will be held on a further announcement date.  Should you feel inclined to honour his life journey, please consider donating to Hospice Simcoe and their warm facility of earth angels.  We couldn’t be more grateful to Dr. Stuart Murdoch, Dr. Jacky Lai and Dr. Michelle Van Walraven for their ongoing care and support enabling Danny to be fully at peace and full of love.  A very special thank you to Lori, Garrett, the entire nursing staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe.

So many memories going through my head over the last few weeks, from singing in the basement on new years to a little Reba and Brooks & Dunn to Danny dancing to the Black eyed peas. We have wonderful memories at the cottage in Muskoka with the girls catching frogs and Danny always fishing, to holidays on the beach in Dominican and Cuba. He will be missed dearly by his family and all of his friends but will always be looking and watching over us. Cheers Dano

My condolences go out to Danny’s entire family.

The memories will never fade from the Barrie North days, the Brookdale and downtown Barrie when we were a bit older and then working at Honda.

Danny was a great person…the world could use more like him.

I will miss all the laughs we shared through high school and at work.

    RIP brother…

The Brookdale day’s were some of my favourite memories of Danny. Danny was always in the thick of it whenever an issue arose👊🏻 unfortunately Danny lost the biggest fight of his life to cancer but he fought right to the end.

The laughs whenever Chris & Danny got together to talk and catch up about the OLD days was so infectious.

Year’s could go by but whenever they saw each other it was like they never missed a beat. There friendship was unconditional.

Wendy, Jordyn, MacKenzie, & Jarrett our thoughts & prayers 🙏 are with you all.

    R.I.P.
    Danny🥲💔

Husband, Father, Son, Friend. A privilege to call him any of those, in health and in sickness. He fought every and especially his toughest battle head-on and without relent. Until his untimely departure, Danny’s bravery and steely resolve was a testament to his character and his fierce loyalty, pride and protection of his family.
You’re free my friend and have an even better vantage point to watch over those you lived for.

To those left behind, trust you’ll find strength and comfort to live in his memory by surrounding yourself with those who care. ❤️‍🩹

    Dan, Wendy and Family,
I regret only running into you once Danny since I retired 6 years ago. Only knowing you on a professional level left me lacking knowing better the person I could always share a story, a laugh, a moment or a path forward on any subject we dealt with. Your early departure is both unfair and unwarranted BUT everyone you interacted is richer for the time they spent with you!❣️God Speed Danny
