D. Bruce Duff

July 25, 1946 - May 17, 2022

Funeral Details:

It is with deep sadness that the family of Bruce Duff announce his sudden passing on May 17, 2022, surrounded by family, at the age of 75 years.  Bruce is survived by his wife Sandra, children, James (Maria), Dan (Meggin), Ryan (Lindsey), Katharine (Mark), Trevor (Manisha), grandchildren Robert (Steph), Laura, Sarah, Beth, Jenna, Sakura, Dylan (Larissa), Devlin (Maddy), Alyssa, William, Charlie, Henry, Jaidyn and Issac, great-granddaughters Ayla, and Iris who is expected soon.  Bruce is also survived by his siblings Rod Duff (Elayne), Brian Duff (Dianne), Pat Bellamy (Ralph), Carol Ulliac (Philip), sister-in-law Marg Duff, brother-in-law Len Harrod, the mother of his children, Hilda, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and a large extended family.  He is predeceased by parents Ivan and Jean Duff, siblings Ken, Norine, Janet, baby Karen and brother-in-law Ray Calder.

Bruce grew up on a farm with 7 siblings, where outside chores were part of the daily routine.  This upbringing set the foundation for his love of family, strong work ethic and connection to nature.  While working for the Ministry of Natural Resources, Bruce often arrived home with an orphaned animal that needed extra care.  It was not unusual to find a bear, deer, porcupine or baby beaver when dropping in for a visit.  He loved gardening and had a unique talent for transforming outside areas into living, beautiful spaces, even winning a beautification award featuring his Barrie home.  His garden was a source of pride and many enjoyed the bounty he produced.  Bruce easily made friends, and was always helping family or neighbours.  He also enjoyed teasing those he loved, lively debates on politics and current events, and sharing the gift of laughter.  He loved to visit, send cards, and was often the first to call on birthdays. He paid attention, remembering little details, had a genuine interest in what his family was doing, and was proud of them all.  He lived his life authentically, and in the moment, never asking much for himself.  Bruce leaves a legacy of love to his family, friends and neighbours.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.  Online memories and condolences may be made to the family at www.peacefultransition.ca
