Passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by family.
Daughter of the late Lloyd and Isabel ‘Pokey’ Sawyer and stepdaughter of the late Les Stacey. Loving mother to Karen (Don), Bruce, Barbie, and Dixie (Mike). Loving stepmother to Bonnie, Janet, Susan, and Bob. Predeceased by her husband Floyd.

She was a proud and loving Gramma to Alan, Brendan, Ty, Trinity, Kennedy, Conner, Cayden, Chloe, and Griffin, and a treasured Great-Gramma to Quin and Nika. Deanna is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Don (Gwen) and Gord (June), and was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She will be missed by her beloved cat, Coco and her Granddog Harley.

Deanna was hard working, determined, and resilient. She was sharp, endlessly curious and quick to giggle. She was most happy in the company of her kids, grandkids, animals, watching the Jays and eating cheezies and swedish berries. She wanted everyone to be fed and cozy.

Above all else, her children were the centre of her world, and she loved them fiercely and unconditionally.

We will miss her so much.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the 3rd floor staff at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for the compassionate care they provided. Thank you to Dr. MacDonald and the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe for the kindness, support, and comfort shown to both Deanna and her family during her final days.

Join us in celebrating the life of our mom on Saturday, October 17th, between the hours of 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Traditions Banquet Hall, 142 John Street, Barrie, Ontario. Parking is located at east side of building at patio entrance.

In memory of Deanna, hug your cat, or feed your dog some toast and cucumbers. If desired memorial donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe or the Barrie SPCA.

Deanna was my mother’s neighbour for many years and they shared a cherished bond. I will never forget Deanna’s kindness, despite her own challenges. During the back out two years ago, I went to my mom’s and shortly after there was a knock at the door. There was Deanna in the pitch dark save for a small solar lantern, completely out of breath, with a coffee on her walker for my mom. She said Bruce had brought her a box of Horton’s and she wanted to make sure my mom had a warm drink. They had been in the dark for 24 hours. That’s who Deanna was.
Sleep well pretty lady and we will remember you. xxx
