Derek Hamilton, 63, of Barrie, ON passed away on January 5, 2023 after a brave battle with cancer.
Derek was born on January 28, 1959 in North Vancouver, BC. Derek started his career in Alberta working with his stepfather Dave in framing and concrete forming. They moved to Barrie where Derek eventually became a foreman with Chalmer’s Construction and ran his own snow plow business with the help of his life partner Kim.
He was a longstanding member of the early morning Tim’s coffee crew. He had a passion for NASCAR and classic cars. He is remembered for his sharp wit, big heart, admirable work ethic, willingness to help others and the roar of his white Corvette.
Derek is survived by his life partner Kim Miscampbell-Davis; parents Doreen Hamilton and Dave Matychuk; sister Heather (Mark) Bredbury; children Mitch (Samantha) and Catlin Hamilton (Dan); stepchildren Chris and Kelsey Davis (Julian); newborn granddaughter Frankie-Lee; nieces Nicole and Dana Bredbury; and dog Bert.
