Dianne Marie Scharfenberg

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dianne Marie Scharfenberg on September 14, 2026, at the age of 66.

Born on September 3, 1960, Dianne was the beloved daughter of the late Alvin Moore (1976) and Barbara Moore (Radford) (2001). Throughout her life, she demonstrated remarkable strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved.

On September 7, 1985, Dianne married the love of her life, Rainer Scharfenberg. Together they built a beautiful life centered on love, family, and shared memories. Their marriage was a testament to enduring commitment and partnership, spanning more than four decades.

Dianne was a devoted mother to her two sons, Daniel Scharfenberg (2020), and Brandon Scharfenberg (Kristine). Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family.

Dianne loved her job at the Canada Border Services Agency, retiring in 2023. She took pride in her work and valued the friendships and connections she made throughout her career.

Outside of work, Dianne embraced the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. She loved crocheting, reading, playing bingo, and enjoying poker and many other card games with family and friends. She was also an amazing cook, known for preparing meals that brought loved ones together around her table. Whether sharing a favorite recipe, creating a handmade gift, or gathering family for a game night, Dianne's greatest happiness came from caring for those she loved.

Family and friendship were at the heart of Dianne's life. She shared a special bond with Shari Fidlin, whom she loved and considered a sister. She also cherished her dear friend Carol Scott, whose friendship, laughter, and unwavering support brought joy and comfort throughout the years.

Dianne was predeceased by her beloved son, Daniel Scharfenberg (2020); her mother-in-law Hilda Scharfenberg (2005), her brothers, Greg Moore (2016) and Tim Moore (2018) ; her father-in-law, Karl Scharfenberg (2021).

She leaves behind her loving husband, Rainer Scharfenberg; her son, Brandon Scharfenberg (Kristine); her siblings, Bob Moore (Mary-Lou), Patty Moore, and Jodie Carleton (Frank); her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Peter Scharfenberg (Karen), Gabriele Brown (Ron, 2026), and Ingrid Cole (Barry).

She will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Nicole (Steve), Eric,

T.J. (Bonnie), Andrew (Kyla), Dana (Dave), Kris (Mark), Jen (Neil), Lee (Phil), Callie (Matt), Andrea (Chris), Kate, Matt (Robin), James, and Ashley (Kris).

Dianne was a proud and loving great-aunt to Jay, Alex, Dallas, Zach, Leah, Toni, Conor, Ellis, Soren, Arlo, Sadie, Colt, Sophia, Walter, Jackson, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Dianne's life was defined by her love for family, her generous heart, she found joy in caring for those around her, whether through a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful gift, a handcrafted crochet creation, or simply being there when someone needed her. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched, and she will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
