Donna Mabel Smith

April 18, 1938 - June 18, 2025

Funeral Details: Private family arrangements

Passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 87 years.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel Boyes.  Beloved wife of the late Robert Smith, and partner of the late Frank Ingram.  Loving mother of Douglas (Roberta), Paul (Jill), and Gregory (Christina).  Cherished grandma of Keltie, Cassidy, Robert, and Mackenzie, and proud great-grandma of Brody.  Donna was predeceased by her brother John Boyes.

Donna had a deep love for sports, especially hockey and basketball.  A devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors.  She enjoyed reading novels and always kept up with current events by watching the news.

In her younger years, Donna was a dedicated hockey mom for her 3 boys in local minor hockey.  Donna was Team Rep for one of her son’s team that ended up in the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame and she was also recognized for this and received her certificate.  Donna proudly displayed it on her wall at her home where she passed.  She also had a creative side; she loved painting, particularly nature scenes, and enjoying crafting.  Donna had a life long love for her dogs and cats, who brought her much joy over the years.

The family would like to give thanks to the staff at Roberta Place Long Term Care for all of their support and care that Donna received for the past couple years.

Cremation has taken place.  A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and she will be reunited with her husband Robert at the Barrie Union Cemetery.

Our family , especially me, will never get over losing my best friend of 55 years.
She was always there for me & when I lost Frank, many times I turned up on her doorstep with my pillow…..always coffee and a chat.
She looked after my boys on several occasions and talked me through the difficult and the not so difficult.
Smitty she was to Gavin & Garry, and many of us in the hockey world.

We travelled together, and my Frank, tongue in cheek, agreed to spend 12 days in Quebec City for the International PeeWee Tournament, trying to stay out of our Unit while us two women navigated The City and took in our games.

There will never be another friend like “Smitty”❤️
    Rest in peace my friend.
You will be forever in my heart.

Rest in peace Donna, I worked in the home Donna lived. We became very close she was so humble, smart, loving, an amazing mother to her children, so much wisdom, such a beautiful amazing soul. I looked forward in spending time with her, she loved talking about her family. She liked when I took her outdoors to social events, strolls and sometimes she would bring peanuts for the friendly squirrels along the trail. She always said to me no matter what happens in life always put family first🥺 I Miss you 🕊️forever in my ❤️
