I was surprised to hear of Doug’s death. I know Doug has not been well for some time but it’s sad to lose a well respected member of our community. As I worked at the television station for 40 years I had a long history with Doug and as a result I have many memories. Sorry for your loss. I will not able to attend the service as I will be out of town.

Marliene and I send our condolences and prayers to Lynn and the family. Doug and I were long term employees at CKVR TV, a rarity these days. It was a good run….thanks Doug.

My sincere condolences to all the family at this very sad time. While it has been a number of years since being in touch, I can’t remember a time before Doug and Lynn and the family were not part of my circle in life. From growing up in Burton Ave United Church, to high school with Suzan and on to 15 yrs working at CKVR Television under Doug’s management. He was musically gifted and well respected in the community. Thinking of you all and sending love from PEI.

I was visiing my father (Ken Purdon) the other day. He has Alzheimer’s and frequently is not very talkative. I told him that Doug Garroway had died and he then talked about Doug and what a talent he was.
I have many fond memories of Doug. As a teenager, there were many nights I lay in bed in the manse on Burton Ave and listened to the organ music as Doug practised on the church organ late into the evening.
Condolences from the Purdons to the Garroways. You are in our thoughts and prayers

It is with great sadness that we have just learned is Doug’s passing, too late to attend his memorial service in the church where he provided so many wonderful moments of musical reflection. His music will remain in our hearts forever and we send our deepest sympathy to Lynn and the family.

Doug was a great man , my father Bill Olynyk had a lot respect for him and when he worked for Barrie TV at the time my Daughter passed my dad asked Doug if he would not run the story anymore that it was very hard to watch, I really appreciated that it meant a lot to me
    So very for your loss
