It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Drene Jacqueline Garratt (nee Atcheson) on January 26, 2024, at the age of 81.

Drene was born and raised in Toronto on March 18, 1942.  She is predeceased by her mother Gladys (nee Cumming) and father, Norman Atcheson.

Drene leaves behind survivors, including ex-husband, Marshall Garratt Sr. of Burks Falls, and her five children; Darlene Garratt (Ray DeMarchi), Marshall Garratt (late Barbara Garratt), Danny Garratt (late Michelle Meagher), Deborah Garratt (Chris Dahan), and Dennis Garratt (Laurel Garratt).

She leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Michael DeMarchi, Cassandra, Amber Garratt, Chance Garratt-Dahan, and Rachel, Marshall, and Jackie Garratt. And four great- grandchildren.

Drene was predeceased in death by her siblings Earl Atcheson, James Atcheson, Norma Lesperance, (Atcheson), and Gail Green (Atcheson).

Drene was well known for her knitting, crocheting and arts and crafts.  Which included making handmade gloves, mittens, and hats, which were then donated to the Salvation Army.  Her hats were also donated to the hospital for preemies in the Nic unit.

Drene will be remembered throughout numerous communities for her participating in arts and craft shows alongside her daughter, Darlene Garratt.  Over the years their talents for knitting and crocheting were displayed at numerous shows throughout the community.

As per Drene’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family service.

    My thoughts are with all the family. Drene and I were the best of friends from the time we were 7 & 8. We remained good friends all through the years, raising are many kids together. Lots of super good memories. They will always be with you. Rest in peace, Drene.
