Loving wife and dream girl of 73 years to her husband Robert (Bob).

Mrs. Ryan was such a lovely lady and neighbour growing up. I had many birthday celebrations at her home over the years and she threw me a beautiful wedding shower when i got married. So sad to hear of her passing but glad to know she was surrounded by those that loved her and those she cherished.

We remember Edla as a kind, warm, and charming woman. Always welcoming, for many years each summer she and Bob hosted a big BBQ and pool party for her Ryan and our Pawson gangs which was so delightful for children and adults. Edla was the glue, the rock of stability who grounded her large and boisterous family. That is her greatest legacy – a loving and close family who would do anything for each other. What more can one ask for? Hers was a life well and lovingly lived. Rest in peace, dear Edla. You will always be fondly remembered.

Our condolences Brett, Linda and all of the Ryan family from Pam and I. My memories that always come back to me of of Edla are the times we got to enjoy swimming as young kids at their Brampton home. She would always made us feel so welcomed, and at all the family get togethers she was always wearing her genuine smile that made you smile right back at her. She’ll truly be missed but never forgotten.

That photo is perfect—radiant smile and joy throughout. Both your parents were so kind and generous to me. I remember their remarkable patience and good humour when we built a parade float in the driveway; chicken wire and Kleenex flowers. A whole bunch of us took over the whole house to do it for quite a while, and both your parents made it feel like it was the most natural thing to do. Always welcoming and open-hearted. She made the world a better place, that’s for sure.

We will never forget the pool parties Edla and Bob hosted for their family and extended family in Brampton. It was a wonderful way for us all to connect, share stories and catch up on each other’s lives while our children played ever so spiritedly, in the pool and out. Edla was the gentle, welcoming focus of this merriment. Generous and caring, she allowed us to ‘invade’ her home pool-side on these warm summer days with plates full of sandwiches and other goodies as she happily surmised the show and greeted every one of us with warmth.

She leaves behind a wonderful family whose strong bonds through the years and still today owe much to her.
