Eileen Mary Eydt
Born January 9th, 1929 in Manchester, England, our dearest mother emigrated to Canada with her family just after WWII, her sister having married a member of the Canadian air force. A registered nurse, mum worked in the health care industry most of her life, retiring as manager of the Canadian Hearing Society office in Barrie Ontario. She raised 6 children while living in 6 cities (Hamilton, Montreal, Burlington, Toronto, Calgary and Barrie). Mum was an avid golfer and golf fan, a curler, a fabulous cook and baker, a voracious reader, and like the star that she was, regularly snow-shoed into her mid-80s. She loved her time visiting family in New Zealand, Calgary and Vancouver. Always there for her children, 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, loving and caring, and blessed with the wisdom to keep her opinions to herself, unless asked. A life well lived. Predeceased by our father, Samuel Jacob Eydt (September 2, 1997).
A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 28 at St Mary’s Catholic Church (10 a.m.) in Barrie, Ontario. Reception to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers a donation to Parkinson Research would be greatly appreciated.
