Elaine Audrey Joyce (nee Roworth)

Passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Elaine was the wife of Kenneth Joyce and they had been married for 69 and a half years. They were true partners in life. Their children David, Brian and Janet we all there on the day of Elaine’s passing with their spouses Carol, Mary and Michael. Elaine also has grandchildren Anne, Daniel, Chris, Jacki, Megan, Alex, Christopher and Devin as well as great-grandchildren Lane and Emmett.

Ken and Elaine moved to Oro-Medonte 35 years ago and Elaine was a participant in several social circles in the area. She loved being a member of the Oro-Medonte Horticultural Society, served time on the executive, helped organize annual garden tours and regularly baked treats to bolster regular meetings.  She was a dedicated member of the Women’s Institute, Craighurst Chapter, and regularly contributed to meetings with her presence and her baking. Over the years, she made many fast friends through her participation in local golf, tennis, cross-country skiing, her welcoming nature on Cathedral Pines and as a gracious and thoughtful hostess in her home. She loved gardening and the garden at her Cathedral Pines home was always admired by all.

Our family would like to thank Dr. D. Nay, Dr. D. K. Evans, and Bayshore nurses Allison and Valerie for the wonderful, thoughtful care that they provided over the past year and a half. Similarly, staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Bayshore nursing, and Hospice Simcoe were wonderful to Elaine during her times in each institution.

Peaceful Transitions, Barrie has been entrusted with arrangements. A memorial service will be planned in the future, sometime when COVID-19 restrictions are eased.
