Funeral Details: Arrangements entrusted to Peaceful Transition Barrie

Jean Brooks passed away peacefully at Mill Creek Care Centre in Barrie on September 17, 2019, in her 90th year.

Jean was the last of the Robert Brooks and Mary (Davis), Brooks family of Port Loring, predeceased by Dennis, Ted, Len, Pete, Eldon, Carlton, Ella (Hampel), Mildred “Mick” (Kirton), Sarah (Culin), Ruth (Cole), Hazel (Brooks).

Jean completed her Masters Degree at University of Toronto and worked in the Social work field until her retirement.   Jean retired to Barrie Ontario in 1994, where she continued a small private counseling practice for a few years.    She moved to Tollendale Village, when her bungalow became too much for her to care for.   Later Jean moved into the Barrington retirement home, Barrie Manor from the hospital, and on to Mill Creek for long term care.

I’d like to thank staff at the Barrington, Barrie Manor, and Mill Creek for providing care in a home setting and helping Jean through the last few years.

Jean will be missed by her son Ken Brown, Monique Dion and grandson Derek Brown, from Sault Ste. Marie.

Jean will be missed by her niece Mary (Hampel) McEwan, husband Martin, and Travis and Katie who thought of Aunt Jean as a grandma.   Jean was a very big part of our life.

She was my sweet jean. I always loved seeing her in the morning at the barrington but she could always go without that 6am wake up and if u did somthing she didnt like she always had somthing to say about it which i loved such a kind heart if u got on her good side i have always had her in my heart and i will always remember the time we had. She was the light at the end of my dark tunnel(as i worked night shift) she was a brave, kind and sometimes misunderstood for her quick comebacks.
She will be missed but never forgotten
