Emma Louise Verbeem (née Walton), age 51, passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2026.
Emma was the beloved daughter of Diane Walton and Harold Walton and his wife, Margaret. She was the devoted mother of Ian, cherished sister of Sara and Alexander, and proud aunt to Jack, Carter, and Ryan.
Emma was predeceased by her grandparents, Bram and Marion Ogden, and William and Joan Walton, as well as her beloved great-grandmother, Edith Smith. We take comfort in imagining Emma reunited with her Great-Grandma, knitting together and sharing a cup of tea once again.
Emma enjoyed knitting, watching old movies, and listening to music. An avid knitter, she lovingly donated many of the hats she made to RVH, a reflection of her caring heart and quiet generosity. She will also be fondly remembered by her many extended family members in both Canada and England, as well as by the close friends she made in her apartment community.
Emma’s kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Traditions Banquet Hall (142 John St, Barrie, ON). Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Emma’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
