Passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, at the age of 79 years.
Son of the late John and Mae (née Nickerson). Beloved husband of Joanne for 56 years. Loving father of Brian (Melissa), and Lee. Proud and much-loved grandpa of Brandon, Blake, Alisha, Spencer, and Sophie. Dear brother of Allan (Sue), and Gwen (Keith). Fred will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Fred was an avid golfer who found both peace and friendship on the golf course. A true “MacGyver,” he could—and would—fix anything. He was deeply caring and loving, a wonderful father, and a fantastic role model. Fred was a devoted husband to Joanne, and the two shared a beautiful companionship filled with mutual love and enjoyment of each other’s company.
A passionate car enthusiast, Fred had a special fondness for old cars and could often be found admiring them on Saturday nights at Burger King.
In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice Simcoe www.hospicesimcoe.ca would be appreciated by the family.

Posted on: Tuesday, June 17, 2025I’ve known Fred and Joanne since 1997 when they walked by with Murphy and Clancy. Always a smile and a kind word with them. He is missed by the dog community on our street, as is Samson.; Who always made us smile. So very sorry, we will miss him very much. Mike and Rene❤️

Posted on: Tuesday, June 24, 2025Fred was a great c0-worker (at Ontario Hydro’s C & D Centre), & friend. We traveled many times together to Northern Ontario, delivering courses…mixing fun, & getting the work done. Fred was a fellow “Gearhead.” He loved Vettes. I’m glad we got to golf together, too. To his family, please accept my condolences. RIP Fred. Larry Barnett, Orangeville, ON
