Funeral Details: Private family arrangements

Passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on May 23, 2026, in his 90th year.  Beloved husband of the late Marlene (2022).  Loving father of Cindy, Craig (Paula), Steven, and the late Tracy.  Dear grandfather of Marlena, Sarah, Dylan, Brianna, Katie, Megan, and Emma; and great-grandfather of Julia and Eve. George was the last surviving sibling of the late Robert, Jean, Billy, Mary, Jemima, and Johnny.  He will be lovingly remembered by numerous relatives and friends.

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland to Robert and Jemima, George met the love of his life, Marlene, while out dancing one night.  After a 5-year apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker in Aberdeen, George (age 21) immigrated to Toronto to start a new life in Canada, with Marlene joining him one year later. He began his career with Canada Packers before moving into industrial oven design and manufacturing, where he earned a respected reputation through companies he created such as HASK Metal and Heatsaver.  His work took him across Canada, USA, Mexico, and Brazil, contributing to projects for companies including Ford, GM, Kenworth Trucks, Volvo, and Hummer.

George and Marlene built a beautiful life together in Mississauga, where they raised their family, formed lasting friendships, and created countless cherished memories.  George was an accomplished ballroom dancer, a passion he shared with Marlene.  Together they competed in numerous ballroom dance competitions, earning many championships over the years across North America.

A devoted family man, George enjoyed golf, curling, sudoku puzzles, playing chess and dominos with grandkids, and travelling the world with Marlene.  A big part of his younger years with his family was camping, where many memories were made in Killbear Provincial Park with his children and grandchildren.

In keeping with George’s wishes, private cremation has taken place.

Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at Peaceful Transition.
