Funeral Details: Private family arrangements

With his family by his side, George went to be with his Lord and Saviour on July 29, 2022 at Amica Little Lake, Barrie, at the age of 96 years.  Beloved husband of Nellie (nee Simms) for 71 years.  Loving father of Lydia, Stephen (Katherine), Ruth, Peter, Martha (Chris), and the late Rebekah.  Cherished grandpa of Kelly (Charlie), Joshua, Nicole (Evan), and Jonathan (Cass); and great-grandpa of Zeke and Zaylee.  Dear brother of Rose (Jack).  George was a man of faith; he always showed kindness to others; and in turn was much loved by his family and anyone who knew him.  George’s family would like to thank the caring staff of Amica Little Lake for their compassion and support.  A private burial was held at Sixth Line Cemetery, Innisfil.  Online memories and condolences may be made at www.peacefultransition.ca

I am friends with the Gray family who lived next door to your parents. I met George and Nellie a few times. They were such a wonderful couple. May you know God’s comfort and peace at this sad time.

    With sympathy,
    Marion Gilchrist

Gary and I are so sorry to hear of George’s passing. We lived beside George and Nellie for 9 years on Garden Drive. They were wonder neighbors and friends to us. George and I often spoke of gardening and he gave me many helpful tips! Our condolences to Nellie and the family.

I am thinking of Nellie (with a smile) and the rest of the family at this time. I remember George as a thoughtful man both in deed and expression. He always stuck me as one who weighed his words carefully before he spoke.
That is rare. I seem to recall he had a ‘dry’ sense of humor and I found myself on more than a few occasions chuckling at something he had said hours before that I had missed.
When I think of the garage in the Innisfil house I wonder if George ever threw anything out!

Nellie, I can’t conceive of a relationship that spans 71 years. My own father didn’t even live that long.
I hope there is peace in your heart and mind today and all the rest of your days to come.

George was a man who will be forever remembered as a person who was true to his beliefs. So many memories of the Fagent family when I lived in Alcona Beach. Sending loving thoughts to all of you.
