It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of George Rowan Harradine on September 17, 2023 at the age of 82 years.  Beloved husband of the late Paulette, he is now reunited with his soulmate.  Loving father of Ann Marie (Mark).  Proud papa and best buddy of Connor.  Dear brother of Nancy, Elva and Alec and the late Joe, Johnny, Kathleen, Jeannie, and Isobel.

He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Fishing was one of George's greatest passions, and he spent countless years casting his line in some of Ontario's most scenic waters, including the Nottawasaga River and Georgian Bay.  His favourite times were his adventures and fishing the many lakes and rivers on his trips to Thunder Bay and fly fishing the Margaree River on family vacations.

George had a deep love for nature and the environment where he found joy and peace.  He was often seen tending to his gardens and enjoyed his early morning walks along Kempenfelt Bay which he thought was a perfect way to start the day.  He will always be remembered wearing his trademark Tilley hat and a smile.

A private Cremation has taken place.  A Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

Online memories and condolences may be shared at www.peacefultransition.ca.

In lieu of flowers and in honour of the special people in George’s life that have been affected by cancer, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

George was the apple of Paulette’s eye! Paulette was my first cousin and was the best! I remember when she met George and was smitten! It was so wonderful and romantic. All the times I used to stay with Peewee and Ted and the family over the years were so memorable. Sitting in the back seat of George’s convertible and talking with Paulette and George over the song on the radio was so heart warming. When Paulette asked me to be her maid of honour I was so happy. To see two soulmates who were made for each other and to see Anne Marie growing in their faith and love filled my heart with such joy. And then Connor!! Being able to talk with George every couple of months after Paulette passed has been so rewarding. We always felt so good in talking about past experiences and what was happening at the present. George helped me through the loss of my husband Jimmy seven years ago big time.

George you are now with your love Paulette. Peace be with you and all your family. Love Heather (Austin) Berry-Bajurny

Remembering George will always put a smile on our faces. I spent many years with him at CCB weekly 5 pin blind bowling and then afterwards we would have lunch and laughs together with my mother ‘Millie Whalen’. What fun we had on club outings/trips and bowling tournaments. The stories I could tell! I don’t doubt they’ll get together and start a blind bowling league in heaven. Jacques and he would talk endlessly about their shared love of fishing. His shining light will be remembered always. Our sincere condolences to his family.
