With great sadness, we share that Gladys Elizabeth King passed away peacefully with grace and dignity, surrounded by her loving family on August 13, 2019 at the age of 93. Just 6 days short of her 94th birthday celebration.

Gladys was born August 21, 1925 in Jackson’s Point, Ontario to William and Geraldine Gilbey. She was the youngest and is predeceased by her 3 older siblings Bud Gilbey, Doris Gilbey, and Ivan Gilbey.

Gladys was active throughout her life. She was an avid bowler, swimmer and skater in her day. Dancing was also a passion of hers, be it tap dancing, line dancing or clogging. She loved country music and could play the spoons without missing a beat. She was known for her quick wit and compassionate heart. Her home was always open to family and friends, and there was always room for one more. Gladys was very giving and was always eager to help in any way that she could, her many friends and family can attest to that.

Gladys was predeceased in death by her husband Vernon King and son William Thompson. She is survived by her sons Brian Thompson and Gary Thompson and daughter Charlotte (Thompson) Stier. She was a loving Nan to grandchildren Crystal (Grant), Jason (Heather), Serena (Kent), Chris (Michelle) and Shaun, and Nannie to her loving great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. If desired in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or Toronto General Hospital Kidney Foundation.
