Gordon Londry

April 26, 1957 - February 17, 2022

Funeral Details: Saturday May 21st from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the family backyard

Londry, Gordon

After eight years of fighting and winning so many battles, cancer won the war. The family is heartbroken to say Gord passed away February 17, 2022 at 10:30 am at his home in Barrie, ON.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Phylis, his daughters, Krystal and Kassidy and son in law Taylor.

He would say he was lucky because he got eight extra years some people don’t get. Winning those battles gave him the opportunity to meet his precious grand babies, Layla and Ellis.

He never really complained and he never lost his sense of humour even at the end. He will be missed by many.

He wanted something in the backyard where he spent most of his time.

Come join us to celebrate the life of Gordon  Londry, on Saturday May 21st from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the family backyard, weather permitting. For any inquiries call Phylis at 1-705 309-2954.

I had the pleasure of working with Gord at RVH for 10 years, my husband Tyler for closer to 15. One of my fondest memories is when he was training me if he didnt know someones name he would call them Susie, he didnt inform me of this fact though so I just thought there was a large number of women named Susie in the imaging department. He will be missed!

To the Londry family, My Father was in RVH for 7 and 1/2 months and there were many evenings that my Mother and I would sit in the cafeteria often in tears wondering what the future held. Gord always had a beautiful smile and kind words. As we got to know Gord he would have a joke for us that would always make us smile and laugh. Gord helped us get through a terrible time and he had no idea how much we appreciated him for that little bit of compassion and kindness. He told us about his family and we could tell by the way he spoke that he loved you all very much…especially his grandbabies. Hoping that everyone’s memories and stories about Gord and remembering his smile, that was often devilish, will help you all get through this tough time. We wish that we could thank Gord for what he did for us with his kindness as there should be more people in our world like Gord that will go the extra mile for a stranger. He will be remembered for riding his “floor dinosaur” (floor cleaning machine) around RVH.

    Dear Phyllis and Family,
“Gordo” as I like to call him was truly one of a kind. So funny, caring, and just a joy to be around. I know you know all of this already but I just wanted to take the time to tell you how much I enjoyed working with him. He’s was so proud of his daughters and now granddaughters. It was all we talked about last. Take comfort in knowing he’s watching down on his family and loving what he sees. My condolences, I’m so sorry for your loss.

I meet Gord while working at the food court at RVH. I worked the closing shift so we would often meet at the disposal area at the end of my shift. We formed a close friendship talking about our respective lives. Talking to him was the bright moment of my day. He told me about his wood work, restoring furniture, gardening, food, his trips to Quebec and his love for his family. He was very popular among the staff. My condolences to his family. He will be missed by many. So sorry he left us too soon!

I was so saddened to learn of Gord’s passing in the Barrie Advance last week.

I initially knew Gord as his nurse in the Thoracic Intake Clinic at the cancer center, but over time, we developed a friendship, as fellow RVH employees. We always stopped to chat whenever we saw each other in the hallways. On days when I didn’t have time to stop and chat, we always waved and smiled. We joked and laughed a lot during our conversations. He was a kind and jovial person, and his spirit was gentle. He will be missed.

To Gord’s loved ones: I hope you are able to find many moments of peace knowing that Gord is in a great place now. My thoughts are with you and Gord.
