Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

With extremely heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Grant Kilpatrick, their beloved father and grandfather. Grant passed peacefully at home on October 20th, 2025, at the age of 85. Grant is predeceased by his parents, George and Eileen, and brothers Bruce and Bob. Grant will be missed by his eldest brother, Ross. Grant was the devoted husband of 66 years to the late Diana and the loving father to David and Susan, and son-in-law, Joe. Grant was adored by his grandchildren, Katie, Matt (Christina), and Jenn (Justin), as well as his great-grandchildren, Tristan and Amelia. The family would like to thank Grant’s niece, Jane, for her love and support on Grant’s final day.

Grant was as tough as they come having grown up in Toronto as a talented hockey player. Grant played for the Barrie Flyers for the 1958-1959 season, with the hopes of playing professionally prior to suffering an injury. Given his infectious personality, Grant then found success in the world of sales. Beginning his career with Fred Thompson Sales and retiring from Hershey’s Canada in the early 2000’s. Grant taught his family the meaning of hard work and success.

Grant and Diana were the “poster children” for a happy retirement. Their travels brought them all around the world but they specifically enjoyed many months down in Florida where Grant was able to enjoy the warm weather at one of his favourite places, the golf course. In recent months, Grant enjoyed watching the success of the Toronto Blue Jays. Above all, Grant’s love for his family and his dogs was endless. He was funny, generous, loving, and warm. Words cannot express how much he will be missed and we are endlessly grateful have been loved by him.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local OSPCA in memory of Grant. As an animal lover, we know how much this would mean to him.

    Dear David, Susan, and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Grant’s passing and wanted to share my heartfelt condolences with all of you.
Grant had a profound impact on me during my time at Hershey and in the years that followed— not only as a colleague but as a mentor and a friend. His warmth, humor, and integrity left a lasting impression on me. Even after his retirement, we stayed in touch, and I always cherished our conversations.
He often spoke with such joy about his travels, his time in Florida, and, most of all, his love for his family. It was always clear how much you all meant to him.
Please know that I’m thinking of you during this difficult time. Grant’s kindness and spirit touched so many, and I feel truly fortunate to have known him.
    With deepest sympathy, Teresa Sottana

We are so very sorry to hear of your family’s huge loss. Our heartfelt condolences go out to your entire family (along with some great big hugs). Although we did not remain close throughout the years, Grant was definitely thought of very highly in our family – especially by my father. I always looked up to my beautiful, “older” cousin Diana and her husband and thought they were so “cool”. Our family have at least two memories which of Grant that are spoken of from time to time with much fondness. The first is when we lived in Ottawa and Grant and Diana came to visit. Grant opened the trunk of his car to reveal a treasure of candy and invited us to help ourselves. wow!!! (Obviously this was when he worked for Hershey’s). The second memory took place at our Uncle George’s cottage/lodge outside of Ottawa. There was a large gathering of family staying there that weekend, Grant and Diana and Aunt Bea amongst them. My infant brother had rolled off the dock and into the lake. Before anyone could even fathom what had just happened, Grant jumped into the lake with all his clothes and his floppy fishing hat on and a freshly lit cigarette and saved him! None of us that witnessed this incident will ever forget it. Although extremely frightening, it was also a little funny. When Grant re-emerged from beneath the water with our little brother, his floppy hat was soaked, as was the cigarette that was still in his mouth. He was our hero that day for sure! Grant had a huge personality and a wonderful sense of humour and I hope that he is up there with the rest of our families making everyone laugh. Rest in heavenly peace Grant xo

My deepest condolences to the extended family .

I had the pleasure to work with Grant for 6 years at Hershey and it was always a pleasure to show up in the morning and see his smiling face as he loved to talk about his family and “Pup”.

He will be dearly missed, but heaven just inherited a sense of humour that will raise the bar to new heights and bring everlasting joy.

My heart goes out to you all and so soon after the loss of Diana. I always enjoyed my chats with Grant. Am so glad Susan I got to see them both earlier this year. Big hug
