Harvey Clarke

(CHARLES) HARVEY CLARKE, in his 97^th year, passed away quietly holding his granddaughter’s hand at the Woodspark Care Centre on February 24, 2018.  Harvey was predeceased by his wife Gloria and his brother Jack.  He is the father of Jane Clarke (John) and Susan Clarke, grandfather of Abigail Clark and Charlotte Clark (Jude), Aaron and Chloe Ringe and proud great grandfather of “Buckshot”, Callum Clark.

Harvey grew up in the farm community of Seagrave, Ontario and trained as a pilot during World War II.  He came to Barrie at the end of the war, where he worked as a firefighter on Base Borden until his retirement.  He was a charter member of Grace United Church, a very early member of Shanty Bay Golf Club and an avid sports enthusiast. He spent the last 7 years of his life at the Woodspark Retirement Residence where he enjoyed the social activities, playing pool and many outings with his great grandson.

A remembrance celebration with Rev Eagle of Grace United Church will occur on March 10 in the chapel at Woodspark Care Centre at 110 Lillian Crescent in Barrie at 11 am.    Refreshments with the family to follow.

A private family internment at Barrie Union Cemetery will occur in the spring.
