Horst Rolland Bau

October 11, 1951 - August 10, 2018

Funeral Details:

Bau, Horst Rolland

October 11, 1951 – August 10, 2018

Horst passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Horst (Gentle Giant), beloved husband and soul mate of Marilyn “Lyn” Bau. Wonderful father of Pamela Teresa Bau (Mike). Cherished brother of Jennifer Dyane Bau (James). Adored brother-in-law of Janet Taylor-Dupris (Wyatt) and John Charles Taylor (Kris). Horst’s mom (Elfriede Luise Bau) holds him in her memories. Predeceased by his father Rolf Eugen Bau. Horst will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Horst had a passion for his family whom he loved dearly. He loved to fish, usually at the hottest time of the day, and he would try his hand at any type of construction. Whenever an opportunity arose, you could find Horst with a guitar in his hand. Horst was truly one in a million. He will forever be remembered for his kind-hearted nature and incredible sense of humour. Horst will be missed by his many friends. Horst worked at General Tire in Barrie until the plant closed and then later at Transcontinental Bayweb in Elmvale, Ontario. Horst’s family would like to thank the team at Southlake Regional Health Centre (Dr. Ip, Dr. Kim), and the many nurses (especially Allison) for the care and compassion shown not only to Horst but to the whole family, before his passing. Words cannot express how much it meant. Private family service to be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Horst was a great friend…I will miss him a lot. I will remember many stories with Horst and Lynn. One of my favourite memories was teasing Horst about his singing rendition of the house of the rising sun…not that it was bad but I did tease him pretty good on that one. There was nothing but good in Horst and although we got together regularly I wish that we still had a lot more years to laugh together.

    Larry…a very sad friend

Michael & I are so very sorry for the passing of Horst. He was such a fine man. We will miss him every time we go to an event that we shared together, but most of all just miss seeing his smiling kind face. You both made a perfect team always exemplifying a couple that really cared about each other. We were all hoping for a different outcome but things happen & your hopes go into prayers for the family, loved ones & peace for the individual. Hoping that time will allow you to relish in all your memories of your life together & not dwell in the incredibly short time God chose to take him home. We love you & wish you peace.
