McGuire, Ida nee (Saxer)
As of October 25 2015, Ida has moved on from the I.O.O.F Seniors’ Residence in Barrie to her chosen new home. Born in Switzerland on June 27 1921, Ida came to Canada in 1924 with her parents John and Ida Saxer. She became the oldest of six girls; Nellie, Norma, Alice, Doris and Iris. She married Gordon McGuire in 1939 and became the mother of three boys; John (Sandie), Brian (Pat) and James. The grandmother of Jennifer (Don), Josie and Lacey, the great-grandmother of Fred, Brennan and Stewart, and of course, as you can imagine, the aunt to many, many nieces and nephews.
Ida was always a working mom and spent many years travelling North America and Europe for business, often joined by Gordon before settling into a long and active retirement.
It was a great 94 years Ida, and we are all glad and proud to have spent them with you.
The family would like to thank the excellent caregivers and staff at the I.O.O.F Senior’s Home and Heritage Place as well as her excellent doctor Mike McConvey, all of whom gave her gentle, caring and professional attention, making the end of her ride very comfortable. Thank you.
If you wish, donations to The I.O.O.F Best Care for Seniors or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
Dear family and friends, as per the wishes of Ida, there will be a simple cremation without a funeral, service or, and I quote a “hullabaloo”. She requested that the next time you have one, “Raise it to Ida”.

So sorry to hear of Ida’s passing. We know it is a difficult time for you both.
We hope you are both doing okay. Hopefully we can keep in touch. It has been such a long time since we’ve seen each other.

Posted on: Thursday, October 29, 2015My sincere sympathies and condolences to Ida’s sons and their families. In particular my sadness is with Brian and Pat and their daughter Lacey as I have known them for ever and Brian’s mother was a lovely lady of true grace and she was always interested in others. She is at rest now in her new ‘home’ but her ‘presence’ will always be felt by those near to her.
My good wishes for her peace and for comfort for her friends and family.
Love, Lindy

Posted on: Saturday, October 31, 2015My condolences to the McGuire family. I met Mrs. McGuire at the IOOF where she and my mother were in the same unit, and for a period of time sat at the same dining table. Mrs. McGuire was a kind and gracious lady. Again, my condolences to her family.
