I am very sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. I will remember Jack as an outstanding planner, organizer, coach, mentor and the man behind SSD along with and after the passing of Dave McKendrick. Jack smoothly transitioned the club into the powerhouse it became. His support of his coaches and athletes have stayed with me and made me a better coach and person. As a teacher, coach and pillar of the commuity, Jack has touched many lives. Thanks, Jack!

I will be forever grateful for the time and effort that Jack put into SSD track club. That club had very positive impact on me and my SSD teammates. Many of us are still close friends today and have nice memories of Jack supporting us at track meets and on training trips. He will be missed.

    Dear Heather and Family:

Our thoughts are with all of you at this difficult time. Jon and I will forever remember the good times we had with both you and Jack. Standing up with us and providing your home for our small informal wedding reception 30+ years ago meant so much to both of us.

Stay strong and keep your memories close. Jack will be watching over each of you. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great grand children.

A loving and kind man we will never forget.

I can still remember when Jack talked to me and my parents about joining SSD back in grade 6. If only I knew then what an impact this would have on me. Jack, and SSD, changed the course of my life, without question. His warm nature and unwavering commitment to the kids at SSD definitely didn’t go unnoticed. My thoughts and Prayers are with you.

My deepest sympathies to Heather and family. Jack was a wonderful man and a great President of the SSD Track Club. He made many sacrifices for the young athletes and I will always treasure the memories we made with him in Alabama. He was pivotal in my daughter Hayley (Warren’s) track career and had a huge impact on her. Rest in peace Jack, head up wings out.

Mr. Phillips was an amazing teacher. I am a teacher today because of him. Every September I tell my new group of students about my favourite teacher and what he did that made him so special. Mr. P was all about track and I was super artsy, but it didn’t matter, he went out of his way to find opportunities for me. I am very sorry to learn of his passing.

    Tristan and family…

I wanted to pass along my condolences with respect to losing your Dad. Mr. Phillips was one of my first coaches and I will always be thankful for his guidance and encouragement at a young age while I was at Warnica Public School running around the track. As a little girl I was frequently trying to keep up with the boys and to be as strong and sometimes maybe a little bit better too. He helped me to harness this will and I have carried it all my life. Today I am even more grateful for his example as I think back to those early days and what has stuck with me to ensure I pass it along to my own children. Wishing all of you happier moments in the future.

I am so sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. We went to school in Barrie , but spent weekends driving back and forth to Barrie from Burlington with our sisters Dianes in 1960. Have often thought of him with fond memories.

I am so sorry for your loss. Each time I look out my back window, I still wish it was your family that I was looking at. The Phillips family where the best neighbors I’ve had in the last 40 years. Miss you always. Please accept my condolences for he was a great friend.
