Funeral Details: Arrangements entrusted Peaceful Transition Barrie

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Albert McGovern on July 3, 2019 in Barrie, Ontario.

Born in Toronto on June 15, 1945. Jim was the oldest of James and Anita McGovern's three children.  Jim is survived by June and Danny.

Jim leaves behind his loving and most devoted wife, Jacinta.  He will be missed by his daughters Michelle (Kevin) of Massey, Jennifer of Barrie and his grandson Christopher of Barrie.  Jim will forever remain in the cherished memories of his sister in law Monica (Choo) and their children Serene, Lynnette and Andrew.

Jim was a long-time resident of Barrie and Innisfil.  He spent his early years as a sub-lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy.  Although he did not see action, he was proud to serve.  He worked for many decades in Richmond Hill as a child care worker.  It is there that he helped 100's of troubled youths find their place in this world.

Jim appreciated time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed learning about history, watching hockey/baseball and reading his books.

He was a gentle soul who will be missed by everyone who knew him.  His warm-hearted smile will forever remain in our hearts.

The family wishes to sincerely thank all the staff at Victoria Village for their wonderful care.

Memorial donations in Jim's memory may be made to Parkinson Canada https://www.parkinson.ca/ and are greatly appreciated by the family.
