My log book’s full

There’s a tail wind blowing

The fish are biting well,

And to my friends and loved ones,

I bid thee all farewell.

Gone Fishing.

We are very sad to hear of Jim’s passing. We will always think of him with his deep, hearty laugh, a quick retort and perhaps a rye and coke in hand. Our girls, Beth and Katie loved him and called him ‘Sir’ after he told them never to call him that. We know that he loved us like family and always inquired after our mothers and their health. The cottage, fishing and playing cards with the guys, these activities were all part of the camaraderie that befitted him as a brother to all of us. He told us of his love for Joanie and regaled us with stories of growing up in the west end and having Joanie steal his heart. I think he stole all of ours too. We will miss him dearly. We raise a glass to Jim and say adieu.

Our sincere condolences on the loss of your “soul mate”.  Jimmy so enjoyed his many years of fishing with my brothers up in Haliburton both in summer and winter.  He will love his final resting place.  He will be forever missed and remembered by his family, extended family and friends. Love and Blessings to you all.

    Dear Joanie,
Tom and I were so sorry to read of Jim’s passing. You two were a team for such a long time…such a great team. Our sincerest condolences to you and the entire family. Oh, the old days are remembered fondly…times in your apartment, sharing laughter and fun and Jim’s famous meatballs!!!,. I hope your memories will help sustain the love in your heart and help to keep you strong.I hope Jim is playing cards with my Dad, and maybe taking him along on one of his fishing trips in a heavenly lake filled to the brim with fish waiting to be caught.

We miss you Joanie. Would love to hear from you….

    All our love,

    Tom and Patti

Dear Joan, and to Jim’s siblings…. just learned of Jim passing away in October. Thinking about him conjured up many memories. Playtime Bowl… where I first met Jim. I remember thinking (I was a mere 15 years old) that Jim was Mr. Wonderful. Funny and caring, smart and,,, well, Mr. Personality! The fact that the two of you sustained your marriage for over 40 years doesn’t surprise me at all! You were 2 peas in a pod Joan. Destined to be together and so you will once again, someday! How many times I’ve thought of the two of you, and missed your friendship. How many times I wanted to stop my car at 61 Cartwright (not knowing whether or not you still live there?). Wishing you & Jim knew our 3 boys, and 10 grandchildren! (2 sets of twins…lol). Please know that my thoughts are with you now. Thinking too of Jim’s siblings, who I know he cared immensely about! Periodically, over the years, I’ve tried to search you out on Facebook, only to learn about Jim when I tried it again last night! I was truly saddened, as was Bill when I told him. Joan, please feel free to send me a note if you’re up to it. How we would love to reconnect! You can reach me via e-mail at  maggierus@sympatico.ca  .  Love to you Joan and, hope to hear from you soon. Love always, Marg & Bill Russell (of Utopia, ON – just W of Barrie). xo
