Jean McCutcheon

July 31, 1943 - August 22, 2020

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date

Born in Glasgow Scotland on July 31, 1943, passed away peacefully in Barrie at Grove Park Nursing Home at 4:30 pm on August 22, 2020, 77 years of age.  Battled Lewy-body Dementia for several years with grace and dignity.  Jean leaves behind her loving family; daughter Kelly Arsenault (husband Dave and grandchildren Haley & Matthew), son Sean McCutcheon (wife Susan, grandchildren Kaela & Meghan), sister Bobbi Rodgers, brother-in-law Don McCutcheon (wife Arlene), as well as many extended family members and very close friends including Bob & Angie, Darlene and Lorraine.  It would be wrong not to mention that Jean's life revolved around her love for curling, where she established many long-term friends in Brampton and Owen Sound.  We were very fortunate to be able to stay by her bedside; spend the time we needed to say our goodbyes and reminisce about past experiences.  We plan to hold off on any remembrance services this year due to the pandemic and are hopeful to plan an occasion next year.  In memory of Jean, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to the Alzheimer’s Society.  Online condolences may be left at www.peacefultransition.ca

My sympathies to you. I have many fond memories of curling with and against Jean. Some of the fondest involve our several cross country trips to the Roar of the Rings competitions. We’ll all miss her.

For many years, Jean & I curled together not only in our regular league at Chinguacousy, but also in competition. We even got as far as the Masters competition for Ontario. She also was a great supporter of our Spring Thaw 2-day bonspiel inviting her friends from Owen Sound to curl with her. But my fondest memory of her was when she was dancing with Tony Soutar at one of our dances. They graced the floor with their smooth moves & obvious happiness. We will miss her greatly, her kindness, her gentleness, her sense of humour. My condolences to the whole family.

My Deepest Sympathy to all of Jeans Family. I enjoyed curling with Jean at Chinguacousy Curling Club. She often brought her friends from up North to our 2-Day Bonspiel and curled with them. Always enjoyed Jeans company. A lovely lady.

    Dear Kelly & Sean –
I am so sorry to hear of this sad news. Your parents were actually named my godparents and I was privileged to meet them again after my dad passed in 1996.
I was actually just speaking of your mother recently to my son telling him a story of last time we saw her, which was about 17 years ago.
I continued to speak with her several times on the phone over the years but we lost touch with each other.
Your mother was a very kind, generous and always classy lady. She had a special place in my heart.
My heart goes out to you and your families at this time.
    Much love
    Bonnie
