Jean Sylvia Carr passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday January 8, 2023, in her 84th year.
The devoted wife of Dick Carr for 64 years; loving mother to Carole and Stevan; grandmother to three and great grandmother to six.
Jean and Dick took a leap of faith in 1965 and left everything behind in England for a new life in Canada and made Orillia their home.
Jean dedicated herself to her career at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital which inspired her to create the Jean Carr Sunshine Fund which helped dreams come true for very special children. For all of Jean's hard work and commitment to her charity, she was honoured with Orillia's Citizen Of The Year award in 1993 and the Ontario Medical Association's Community Service Award in 1998. Jean will be missed by her family in both England and Canada.
