Jennie Elizabeth Bakogeorge

August 13, 1920 - June 17, 2021

Funeral Details:

Jennie passed away peacefully in her home, at the age of 100, surrounded by her loved ones. Beloved wife of the late Stawse Bakogeorge. Jennie is survived by her son Paul Linn (Debra) and her sister Sandra (Tom). She is preceded by her son Robert, her sisters Margorie and Marion, and her brother Jim.

Jennie grew up locally and was no stranger to hard work. She and her husband successfully owned and operated The Olympia restaurant for many years in Barrie Ontario. She was well known for her homemade pies. Her apple pies became a family favourite and she continued to bake them for family celebrations right up until she was 100.

Jennie had a love for gardening and anything outdoors in the summer months. She enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events. In the winter she spent much of her time knitting for friends and family. Her “Nana” socks as they were known, were loved by many. She made sure that everyone she cared about had plenty of socks, and if you wore them so often that they required mending she was happy to do so. She even kept some of her frequent sock wearers measurements written down to ensure a perfect fit for every pair.

Nana will be fondly remembered by her grand children and great-grand children. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and the many others who thought of her as their Nana too.

A small private interment will be held at a later date.
