Jenny Marjorie Skobe (nee Mizener)

September 26, 1954 - June 15, 2021

Funeral Details:

Early Tuesday morning, we lost Jenny. She passed away at the RVH surrounded lovingly by her family. In her final weeks she gave us hope that our summer would be spent fishing, eating, and gardening in between her chemo treatments. She went too quickly and too soon. She was 66.

Jenny loved her family with her whole heart. After growing up and starting her career in Toronto, she moved to Barrie to raise her children. She spent many years providing home day care for the community. She worked at Sears and then United Lumber before retiring in March. Her entire being was spent loving and caring for her family. The space that she leaves within us is immense.

Jenny will always be lovingly remembered by her son Eric, daughter Christine (Piotrek), sister Sylvia and nephew Jeffrey. She is remembered fondly by the Sarris family and a group of friends and colleagues that spans decades. Though she was a private person, she was loved by many.

The family wishes to thank Carol Hardy and the healthcare staff that helped Jenny in her final weeks. We were able to spend many precious moments with her this spring.

Cremation has taken place and the family plans for a private ceremony. Her ashes will be scattered in her favourite fishing spot, along with those of her beloved dog Dexter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice and if you wish communicated to Peaceful Transitions Funeral Home.

I’m so thankful to have known Jenny and known her just as that- warm, friendly and so welcoming to us, she had an amazing spirit, sense of humour and deep love for her children Christine and Eric that was so apparent. I’m so sorry to hear about her passing am so thankful to know her values live on through her children.

    Dear Chrissy and Eric,
I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I have so many fond memories from my childhood of the time I spent with you and your family within your mom’s care. She was so kind and warm and your home was a safe place to start and end each school day when I was young. Your mom had a sweet smile, an infectious laugh, and served the best snacks for our after-school shows – Sailor Moon and Saved By The Bell. I am so sorry that you are now without her, I can only hope she has left you with many heartwarming memories that you will now treasure. I am sending you both love and strength as you look towards sunnier days.
    With love,
    Lauren Spekkers/Samson

Dear Jenny, A soft spoken gal. Gentle and kind.
Worked at the Churchill Drive Sears in Barrie. She was a trouper, always working hard .
After we all lost our jobs the crazy Sears gals would get together ❤ .
Will miss her not being there.
My condolences to her family .
    Take Care.

I have so many regrets not being able to say goodbye and telling Jenny how much her friendship meant to me. We had so many great times together and we laughed all the time playing Euchre. I’m so sorry for your loss Eric and Christine. She was a wonderful woman.
