John Allan Connolly

Funeral Details:

John Allan Connolly of Elmvale, formerly of Cedar Springs, passed away peacefully at RVH in Barrie at the age of 86, June 15, 2015.  Beloved husband of 64 years to Jean (Pilbeam) Connolly. Loving father of Linda (Don) Burk, Judy Sibinski, Charlotte Rose (predeceased 1986) and Max (Debbie) Connolly.  Cherished grandfather of Tara (Jason) McKinnon, Niki Burk (Bryn Pierce), Laura (Ryan) VanderLinde, Ron (Adrina) Rose, Jacob and Tonya Rose, Preston and Alden Connolly. Proud great-grandfather of Tyson Meraw, Lucas and Lincoln McKinnon, Keelan and Charlotte Rose (Ron) Benjamin Rose (Tonya)

Dad was the proud owner/operator of ALMAC Lawn Care for many years.  Upon retirement, he and mom moved to Elmvale and embraced their retirement.  Dad became an enthusiastic community volunteer, helping out at Heritage Park, assisting at the Senior Center and canvassing for the Cancer Society and March of Dimes.

When baseball season started, Dad’s blue truck “thumper” would be spotted at all the ball games. Dad loved Elmvale, he considered it to be his home town; every morning, weather permitting, Dad would walk through Elmvale; he had a smile and cheerful greeting for everyone he met.

Dad was a member of the Gideon Society for over 25 years. His greatest joy was sharing his love of the Lord; he always carried a New Testament bible in his pocket just in case he would have the opportunity to spread the good word.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to join us at the Elmvale Community Arena 14 George St. Elmvale on Saturday June 27, 2015 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm to celebrate dad’s life.

If you wish to remember our father with a memorial donation, please consider the Cancer Society www.cancer.ca  or the Gideon’s www.gideons.ca

Allan & Jean were our neighbours on Lorne Street in Elmvale for 7 years. He was a lovely man, both he and Jean helped make our stay in Elmvale a happy one.
