John “Jack” Gerard Fitzgerald

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will be held at Traditions Banquet Hall at Sheba Shrine, 142 John St., Barrie, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1-4 p.m..
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of John "Jack" Gerard Fitzgerald on July 15, 2026, at the age of 73.
Jack was the beloved son of the late John and Mary Fitzgerald. Beloved husband and best friend of Julie for 51 years. He was a proud and loving father to his four sons: Jason (Laura), William (Karin), Ronald, and John (Rhonda).
Cherished grandfather to Matthew, Jacqueline, Victoria, Kathryn, Andrew, Melody, Jessie, April, and Lee Ann, and a proud great-grandfather to Hayden, Emmett, Mackenzie, Amber, and a precious great-grandchild on the way.
Jack will be dearly missed by his siblings, Clyde (Ruby), Teresa, and Jerome (Sandra), and was predeceased by his brothers Ron and Barry.
Known affectionately by many as "Happy Jack,", and he lived up to his nickname. Jack enjoyed being around people and had a warm and generous spirit, an easygoing nature left an impression on the people he met. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, generously giving his time and support to those who needed him.
A talented woodworker with remarkable craftsmanship, Jack loved creating beautiful pieces for family and friends. Working with his hands brought him great joy, and many people will continue to treasure the gifts he lovingly made for them.
Jack was also known for his strong work ethic and the meaningful relationships he built throughout his career. He had a special way of making people feel valued, often affectionately referring to his coworkers as "my son" or "buddy." Over the years, more than 40 people proudly became one of Jack's adopted "sons," a testament to the kindness, encouragement, and mentorship he freely shared.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Traditions Banquet Hall at Sheba Shrine, 142 John St., Barrie, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1-4 p.m..
In memory of Jack, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Posted on: Friday, July 31, 2026My condolences to all the family and friends. Jack was and will always be a legend in the Link Line/NPL community. He was a great teacher and knew how to be stern without being rude. He was always in a good mood and led by example in all the right ways. He taught me so much over the years and will be greatly missed. My favourite thing great asked me to get was the “Tumm wrench” which was converted to crescent wrench or thumb wrench. Which when I was young meant absolutely nothing but as I got older made total sense.
Rest now Jack, you will be missed.

Posted on: Saturday, August 1, 2026Jack was my first foreman, when I started at Link- Line 18 years ago. I couldn’t have asked to have a better Boss than Jack. He was intimidating, would give you a stare, but if you showed you worked hard, he would sort of let you know he didn’t mind you lol.
A hard working man, yet a gentleman!
There wouldn’t be one man/ woman that knew Jack, that could say something bad about him.
One of the best men I’ve ever met.

He was a high asset to the company and knew his stuff . He was a great man and I’m sure taught everyone he worked with something they will always remember. We will miss you dearly Jack❤️❤️❤️

All of our sorrow runs so deep with the loss of you. There are so many kind words to say about you. Most of all you were an amazing man, a man of all men. You raised 4 boys, who grew up to be real gentleman, just like you. You were an extremely hard worker, but still found time to do woodworking, cooking, and Baking ( the best). I always admired how you loved my sister and the way you both built your lives together with family and friends. You were adored by all Jack! I know that going forward, each and every get-together will never be the same without you. My heartfelt condolences to your family, and all that knew you. I pray for strength for all to get through this very difficult time.
