Funeral Details: A Family Farewell will take place

TULK, John Stanley – February 20, 2021, in his 90th year, Stan passed away peacefully at the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket, Ontario. Loving husband of 39 years to Dorothy.   Devoted father to Owen (Sharyn); and Charlotte (Ian).  Step father to Lori (Michael) and Todd (Brenda).  Brother to Lorne.  Grandfather to Andrew (Alicia), Sean, Jamie, Nicole and Ian; and Great-grandfather (Papa Stan) to Jenson and Crosby.  Predeceased by his Mother Ruth, Father John, brothers Cyril, and Ian and sisters, Lorraine and Jane.

Born in Montreal, Quebec on August 31, 1931.  As a young boy, he was involved with Scouts, music and swimming and in his late teens with the St. Johns Ambulance.   He loved the arts, music and theatre.  Also, nature, birdwatching and fishing.   He studied Graphic Art at Danforth Technical School and went on to work in Graphic Arts and Marketing for the Evening Telegram newspaper and eventually concentrated on marketing with TD Canada Trust until his retirement in January 1992.  For many years, he was involved with the Scarborough Theatre Players.  He was a member of the “Entertainers” – a quartet playing for patrons at local pubs in the Toronto area as well as for residents in Retirement Homes.  He was also a longstanding member of 25 years plus of the Acacia Lodge No 430.  Once retired, Stan joined Home Depot on a part time basis until 1997 when he hung up his hat to enjoy their “home away from home” in Port Severn at Wildwood on the Severn.  In his later years, he enjoyed playing piano weekly for his fellow residents at Hollandview Trail Retirement Home in Aurora.

Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Dr. Tse; Dr. Lockwood and Dr. Kung of Southlake Hospital as well as to the caring staff and volunteers at the Margaret Bahen Hospice.

Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will ensue.  Donations may be made to the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Stan’s memory.  Arrangements entrusted to Peaceful Transition York and condolences may be forwarded through peacefultransition.ca

Elisabeth and I will remember Stan as a kind and gentle man. His warm smile and soft spoken nature were characteristics that we will long remember. However, his legacy was the immense musical talent he shared with his friends at the churches he attended and the community he and his wife Dorothy resided. I envied how he could walk into a room with a piano, sit down and play it, without referring to any sheet music. The happiness and joy he brought to so many can not be measured.
Our heartfelt condolences to Dorothy and the Tulk, Dempster and Broadbent families.
    Randall and Elisabeth Linton
