Jörg “Joerg” Hansen

October 17, 1947 - June 5, 2021

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jörg after a brief battle with cancer.

Jörg will be sadly missed by Gerhild, his wife of nearly 52 years, daughters Svenja (Tim) and Cerry (Joe), as well as his beloved grandchildren Justin and Abigail.

Jörg brought his young family to Canada from Germany, after he fell in love with the beauty and nature of the land on a brief visit 45 years ago.  He worked for 30 years as a dental technician and manager at Image Dental Laboratories (formerly Central Dental).  Jörg loved the outdoors, whether hunting, camping, canoeing, or walking his dog.

Sincere thanks to the caring staff at Hospice Simcoe (Nancy, Sandy, Aryn & Garrett) for making Jörg‘s final hours peaceful and comfortable.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be organized at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jörg’s memory to Hospice Simcoe.  https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/2595

Remembering Jorg with warmest memories of the times we met at the dog park in rain shine and snow. A fine gentleman with a great sense of humour, he will be sadly missed.

Jörg used to go through the catwalk past my yard twice a day walking his dog and always took a moment to stop and chat. He always had a little something to joke about with that dry sense of humour. I realized recently that I had not seen Jorg in awhile. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed.

I will miss Jorg and his wit and humour on his daily dog park visits with Odin. As will many, many others I’m certain. Please accept my family’s condolences. And Bauer will miss his treats. Jorg’s love for animals was beautiful. Rest In Peace.

Two years ago I met George at the Molson’s Dog Park when I had my new puppy Harley. We used to sit with Jorg and Odin for hours until he had to leave to pick up a grandchild or drive his wife somewhere. When the COVID lockdown at the park started we met behind the fence with Big John and (painter) George. Then when the COVID dog owners started to show up and ruin the park vibe, Harley and I had to leave and find somewhere else (Springwater). I missed Jorg but my dog came first. Losing track of Jorg is not the only regret that I have in this life but it is one of the biggest. Odin must miss his buddy. I do.

We are very sorry and sad to hear of Jorg’s passing. He was a very nice man. Always had a good chat with him when he popped into the office and at the Dog Park

I also met Jorge at the park and as Jim said we would sit for an hour or two and laugh and talk. Jorge had a great sense of humour. Bailey sure will miss Jorge and his pocket of treats( aka kibble). And Odin will miss him dearly. Those two were inseparable. Miss you my friend.

I’m so sorry to hear of Jorgs passing. He was my neighbour and we always chatted when he would walk by with Odin. He would always check in to see if me and my son needed anything. He was such a sweet man. I will missing chatting on his walks.

My prior dental office contacted me with your message recently. I was shocked to hear that one of my favourite people, Jorg, had succumbed to cancer. He and I spoke weekly while he worked at Central Dental and our conversations always either started or ended with the outdoors, especially hunting. We shared my first fly in moose hunt in 2003 and that memory will always be with me. I can only imagine the hole the loss of Jorg will leave in your lives. I hope that the memories that you made with him will take you through this sorrow and as you come out the other side he will continue to put a smile on your face.

Thank you Dr. Sorgini, for the nice message and the fab picture.
I remember your trip (north of Nakina, right)?! I believe the thunder box featured in several pictures. Sorry that you can’t make it to the Celebration of Life tomorrow, but rest assured that we will remember our dad and husband with infinite love! He loved well and made the world a more beautiful place for those around him.
I wish you and your family all the best.
Btw, Congratulations, I hear you shot a moose recently.
      Warm regards, Svenja
