Left this world peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie at the age of 98 on May 21, 2024.  Loving mother of Patricia, Brenda, Deanna, Amy and Andrew.  Dear grandmother to Robert, Ryan, Solomon, Davina, David, Matthew, Andrew, Timothy, Jordan, Aliki, Sophia and a proud great-grandmother to 23.  Predeceased by her husband Anthony Arthur, and her son Gary Anderson.

June had been a resident of Roberta Place Retirement Lodge for the past 12 years and is known for playing the piano to entertain the other residents and staff.  She also enjoyed playing Bingo there in the evenings with the other residents.

Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, June travelled between Newfoundland and England with her mother during her younger years.  At 21, she married a man she met in England during the war at 14 when he joined her in Toronto after serving in the Royal Navy.  They were married for 65 years until his death in 2012.  They resided in the Village of Swansea in Toronto and later moved to their cottage in Consecon (Near Trenton).  On selling their home, they moved to Trenton and finally to Barrie about 17 years ago to be closer to family.

June enjoyed life to the fullest and was pleasant to everyone she met.  She enjoyed knitting, writing and even wrote the story of her life.  She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life for June Phillips will take place on Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Social Room at the Watercrest (15 Maple Ave, Barrie: 5th floor). Parking is free in front of the building on weekends.  Please contact family for entry code to the building.

June was like a second mom to me and my sister when we were young back in the Swansea days. I loved and learned a lot from her in her greenhouse and so enjoyed her organ playing. She spent many mornings helping nurse my scraped knees, when I would trip down the hill on the way to the Phillips house on Durie. So many fond memories. My condolences to all family members. May the white light of love and protection surround her and all of you during this difficult time. 🙏❤️
