Jean and I grew up together in Willowdale and Newtonbrook, where our parents were life long friends. Jean was like a “big sister” to me. We went our separate ways during our working years, but had frequent visits together at my parents cottage in Kirkfield. When I retired, I had many enjoyable visits with Jean in her Newmarket home. We also took several driving trips through the States, and usually stayed at a villa in Myrtle Beach for a couple of weeks, to rest and relax during our travels.

I also enjoyed many visits with Jean’s family in Newmarket and Aurora while staying with Jean. One of our favorite times was having lunch together at the restaurant in Fenelon Falls, that looks out over the falls.

We will all miss Jean, but our happy memories together will stay with us forever.

With love, Rob Doig in Calgary

I was saddened to read of the passing of Jane. It’s got to be more than 40 years since I last spoke with her. In the early 70s we worked in the same branch of the Ministry of Education. My wife Kathy and I became friends with Jane and we visited with her often at her home on Hounslow Ave. She was a wonderful woman. And I’m grateful for having known her.

Andrew (from your Grandfather) and your Family
The Thomas Clan of Marter, Ontario wish to express our condolences on the loss of your Mother.
Your Father as well his siblings were always a part of the community back in the day when
neighbour meant something. Your Grandmother was so warm and welcoming to all and I have
many memories of spending time at their home. I spoke to several of my cousins who still live
    there and feel the same.
Friends get separated as time passes and the older generation moves on and so we lose track.
    We wish you peace.

Aunt Jean was a wonderful gracious lady. I enjoyed visiting her in her home and certainly happily sampled the great “eats” at Christmas gatherings. She and I packedd a picnic once and spent the day exploring Niagara on the Lake. We had fun, and got peaches for her to make her marvelous Peach Marmalade. I have fond memories of Aunt Jean and would have loved more time with her, however I have fond memories and am grateful for knowing her.
    Janice

Our deepest condolences to Drew and Anne and Ryan. With much love, Gladwyn, Janice and Holly Byerlay

The fond memories I have of my Auntie Jean are precious to me. I have a few items of hers that remind me of her when I use them. I’m sure a few tears will be shed when we bring out our unique Christmas stockings this year. As an adult I’m in awe of how strong a woman she was. Doing without a license she would walk everywhere, always baking or knitting up special things for us and most importantly raising a wonderful son on her own. My cousin Drew was like having an older brother because our families did so many activities together. I send my condolences to him and his family.
