Remembering my brave Aunt Katie or Tante Kaatje as I always called her. I can hear her voice, her laughter as I write. She was daring as a young woman when she was part of the Resistance movement in the Netherlands during World War Two. She was daring when she immigrated to Canada with her husband Jacob and their young daughter Tina.
Our families lived near each other during the first 10 years in Canada. I remember the births of Hank and Ed. And I remember all the love , the sharing the help our families gave each other as immigrants in our new country, Canada.
Tante Kaatje was my mother’s younger sister. Our fathers were best friends. What a wonderful experience it was to witness the love between our two families.
Thank you Tante Kaatje and Oom Jaap for the wonderful memories.
Sending love to Tina, Hank, Ed and their families.

Tante Kaatje was a kind, gentle and caring aunt whom we were privileged to have in our extended family.

Always interested in her many nieces and nephews (and their spouses and children ) she greeted all with a smile and a hug.

She leaves a big gap in all our lives, but will be remembered with a tear and a smile.

Condolences and love to Tina, Henk, Ed and their families.
