On the evening of May 10, 2024, Karen Elizabeth Baioa, age 70, passed away peacefully at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.

She is now at peace with her parents, Frank and Norma Beadle.  Born June 11, 1953, Karen lived in Etobicoke, Woodbridge, Brampton and finally retiring in Wasaga Beach in 2017.  Her first job was a cashier at Zellers, she then worked for Plymouth Chrysler both in reception and in the Warranty Department.  She then worked at Ontario Chrysler for years before starting at Birchbank Public School, the first of many with the Peel School Board, finally retiring from Great Lakes Public School.

Karen is survived by her spouse Marco, and her two children and their spouses: Tammy and Keith Michaud, Rick and Charmaine Briceland.  She was also blessed with six grandchildren: Ryan, Madison, Abbey, Mackenzie, Jaxson and Frankie.  Karen leaves behind two sisters and their spouses; Linda and Duane Rawlins and Donna and Tony Diciccio, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Karen had an amazing sense of humour; she was loving, caring and a total mama bear.  She lived her life for her grandchildren.  Anyone who met her was so lucky to have known her.  She will be missed dearly by all.

Special thanks to nurse Connie McClellan, Dr. Fraser and all other nurses at CGMH Medical Care Unit for their loving care and humanity towards Karen.

A Celebration of Karen’s Life will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Wasaga Country Life Resort: Main Hall (75 Theme Park Dr, Wasaga Beach, ON)

In lieu of flowers, we have asked that donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Collingwood General and Marine Hospital would be greatly appreciated.

I am truly saddened to hear this news. I worked with Karen and Marco at Great Lakes for years, and I have very fond memories of them both. I would often go into the office for a quick visit – especially when the days were particularly tough. Karen and I would share a laugh ( and a complaint or two), and I would leave with a lighter heart and better able to cope with the rest of the day.

    This is a great loss.

    Eternal Be Her Memory
