Karen Eileen Galloway
Karen passed away at the age of 74 years on January 19, 2021 with her loving husband of 55 years, Peter, by her side. Karen was born in Windsor, Ontario on October 23, 1946 and met her husband, Peter while in grade 9 at Oakville Trafalgar High School. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts in French. Loving mother of Briar (Penny) Galloway and Jamie (Andrea) Galloway. Dear Grandma to Patrick, Sam, Graeme, and Luke. Cherished sister of Laura (Ray) Andrews and Martha (Paul) Habermell. Karen will be missed dearly by her brother-in-law Rob (Donna-Lynn) Galloway, her niece and nephews Katie, Michael (Laura), John (Serana), her grandniece Emily and grandnephew Leo. Karen was the centre of our family and provided guidance to all. Her beautiful heart and giving nature encircled all of her extended family and friends. Karen was perhaps happiest when her family was gathered at her home to share a meal with love and laughter. She will be especially missed at her grandsons’ sporting events where players, coaches and other parents enjoyed her company and where she delighted in being a proud and caring grandmother. She was an important part of Patrick, Sam, Graeme and Luke’s lives. Karen worked for 35 years as the Business Manager of the Simcoe Medical Group where she formed many long-lasting friendships. Karen is predeceased by her parents, Eva and Gerald Childerhose, and her brother-in-law Ian Galloway. Karen was indeed a very special person and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences www.peacefultransition.ca

I am very sorry to know of your loss of Karen – a dear wife, mother and grandmother. Karen was ALWAYS friendly, warm and welcoming to everyone.
I enjoyed seeing her when our paths crossed – mostly at kids’ and grandkids’ school BB, VB and Football/Rugby games! Karen was an intelligent, gentle, kind person and she will be greatly missed. My condolences.

Posted on: Monday, January 25, 2021Our deepest condolences to Peter, Briar, Jamie and families.
I worked with Karen at Simcoe Medical and can honestly say she is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She loved her family and was such a proud mom and Grandma. I looked forward to our morning chats as she made her rounds around the office checking in on everyone. Always asking how our families were doing and wanting to see the latest pictures of the grandkids. She had a witty sense of humour and a contagious laugh. Always happy, always smiling. I hold fond memories of her that will always make me smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Thinking of you all during your time of loss.
As I remember Karen these characteristics come to mind; grace, humility, wisdom, and kindness. Karen always displayed devout respect and love for her husband. She reflected such joy when sharing stories of her children and grandchildren. Karen was a beautiful inspiration in my life and she will be deeply missed.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Posted on: Saturday, February 20, 2021During High School, Karen worked at Camp Inawendawin, a private summer camp on Paint Lake near Dorset, Ontario. She was a remarkably intelligent and friendly person who made a positive impression on all who worked at the Camp. Nobody approached life with greater excitement and nobody could bring more warmth and happiness to others. Our hearts and thoughts are with her family and friends. She was special.

Posted on: Friday, February 26, 2021I considered myself Karen’s best friend during our first two years of university. Briar, for example, is named after my sister Briar. But then sadly we lost touch after Karen married and moved away. I did come for a visit once at Karen and Peter’s house in Shanty Bay but it was logistically difficult and I never managed to reconnect again. Which is a shame.
Karen’s death was drawn to my attention by Susan Simpson (Hughes) who was one of the four of us who shared an apartment in second year. So if nothing else, Karen’s death has allowed me to reconnect with Susan.
Greetings to Peter from long ago, and I hope you’re coping well.
