Kenneth Patrick Matthews

November 17, 1970 - April 1, 2021

Funeral Details: Sat., April 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. A Zoom Celebration of Life will be held

Ken passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.  Ken is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Kimberly, his daughter (and clone), Kayleigh, and his son (and best friend) Ryan.  He was the beloved son of Clare Bisogno (Gene) and James Matthews.  He leaves behind many loved cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Ken had 2 passions in life - hockey and his family.  He loved playing hockey with his teammates in Barrie on the MBL and Wednesday night groups, and with his Friday night gang in Mississauga.  He was so happy when Ryan was old enough to join them.

Ken never backed down from a chance to push himself further.  He once decided to take up running and after a month was able to run 20 km.  He rode his bike with his Uncle Dave from Mississauga to Trenton… just because.  And not long after completing his radiation, he would rollerblade with Kayleigh whenever the weather allowed.  That was Ken, he lived life to its fullest

Ken had an infectious smile, and a knack for making everyone he met feel comfortable and welcomed.  He was warm, caring and so positive, even when diagnosed with cancer last March.  Ken will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to meet him.

In keeping with Ken’s wishes, he will be cremated and brought home, where he most wanted to be.  There will be a zoom funeral, Saturday, April 10, 2021, with time to be announced soon.

My condolences to Uncle Kenny’s lovely family. It was shocking to hear the news knowing how young he was. I know everyone enjoyed being around him, myself included even though it had been quite a long time. I’ll always remember him as the happy and joking uncle, one of the few who could tease my dad without getting him upset! Sending my love to the rest of the family.

    Matt

Clare and Gene … we just learned the devastating news of Kenny’s passing. Kimberly, Kayleigh, Ryan and you are foremost in our thoughts and prayers. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. It has been said, true sadness enters into one’s life when the co-author of your most cherished memories becomes a memory. But take solace in knowing, those we love will never truly leave us. They will forever remain a sweet memory and, therefore, cannot be touched by death.

Clare, I first met you at an ECE softball game in the Spring of 1974. I was instantly taken with your charm, your grace and your beauty. Within minutes, I learned you were part of a huge, close-knit family. Within an hour, I learned you were the “beaming with pride” mom of a sweet baby boy named Kenny. Over the intervening years, Gene and you shared countless anecdotes, updates and photos of your beloved Kenny. Unfortunately, Kenny and I never met in person; but, through you, I knew him.

God bless Kenny and all of you,
    Rosa and Pedro.

Very sad to hear of Ken’s passing and just found out on LinkedIn. Time flies so quickly. Hadn’t seen each other for years until a fateful night at Van Halen Concert. Was a good laugh. Didn’t realize how long it has been since his battle began and we spoke. Loved his positivity, something all should aspire to. My thoughts and prayers are with you Kim, Ryan and Kayleigh. I wish you strength during this time.
