Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Krista on August 1, 2023.
Krista passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, ON, at the age of 40 – with her best friend (her mom) by her side.

Krista was known for her witty sense of humor, her ability to make anyone in her presence laugh with just a few small remarks, as well as her loyalty to all those who surrounded her.  These are all qualities that she kept until the end of her time with us.  To know her truly was to love her.  She had an infinite love for animals, providing a loving home and great life to many dogs over the years, as well as two horses – all of whom she loved dearly.

Krista was a pillar in the lives of many that knew her – but also in her community.  Krista wore many hats – working alongside her mother to be able to provide the community with affordable, accessible transportation through their company Overall Independence, all while staying true to her love for animals through her work and commitment with Top-Dog K9 Services and Trinity Trotters Equine for over six years.

Krista leaves behind her mom Sharon McLean; her grandparents; Carl and Jean McLean; two horses, Rukus and Aleef; her dog and companion, Mayhem (Hamburger); and a large circle of friends and loved ones.

Although we were not ready for the loss of our beautiful girl, we know that a piece of our hearts will be with her everywhere she goes.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service with be held at this time.

“One day we will remember how lucky we were to have known their love, with wonder, not grief.”
- Elizabeth Postle

You will be missed by many. I will hold on to the memories of your dreams of having your own farm. The lengthy conversations of the cost of running a horse boarding facility, your love for animals and our meet ups at Kawartha Dairy. Until we meet again, you are an amazing friend and an inspiration to us all.
