Lawrence McQuoid

July 11, 1936 - May 16, 2019

Funeral Details: Celebration of Life on June 2, 2019. All are welcome from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The Legion at 19 Quinte Street in Trenton on June 2, 2019.

Dad passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 16, 2019 in his 83rd year at Barrie’s Royal Victoria Hospital.

He was surrounded by his loving family to complete his final journey to join his beloved Marion.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters Lori Hrstic (McQuoid), Sue Ann Vanderpol (McQuoid), and his sons Mike McQuoid and Pat McQuoid. The loss will also be felt by their husbands, wives, children and grandchildren.

Larry, as most people knew him, lived a full and exemplary life. As children he taught us the importance of the beauty that Canada had to offer and the importance of hard work and perseverance.

Dad will not only be missed by his immediate family, but also by the many friends that he forged along the way. Even his Mexican family will miss him very much.

Dad was always a welcome speaker at weddings and family functions. He was able to impart his life experience amongst his children, as well as Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Larry was a pioneer in the truck body industry, being the founder of Multi Vans in 1962.  He was well known and respected in the industry. Even in retirement he kept close tabs with friends that he had built relationships with over the years.

Whether it was helping showing horses at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, donating time to the Belleville Rednose Program or helping with the Quinte Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, Dad was always involved in the community.

Dad will be cremated then interred at the family plot in Smithfield amongst his family.

The Celebration of Life for Larry will be at the Legion at 19 Quinte Street in Trenton on June 2, 2019. All are welcome from 1Pm until 4Pm.

As an expression of sympathy, donations for the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Having done business with Larry since the late 60’s until his retirement I can attest that he was truly an industry pioneer and always a man of integrity. Rest in peace my friend.

The Phelan family wish to express our sadness that you have lost your dear dad. We have such fond memories of Larry and Marion at dances in Bolton, raising our young families in the 50’s and 60’s in our little bungalows on the south hill; both dad’s starting successful family businesses in town. We were all lucky to be blessed to have Larry in our lives and in our community. Wherever his beautiful spirit travels with his passing, Hugh will surely be there to shake his hand.
A donation has been made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Larry’s honour by the Phelan family.

Larry McQuoid and his entire family have been special friends to Roxana and I and all of our family for more than 45 years. We remember fondly the good times we shared in Bolton and elsewhere with Larry and his family. I had the opportunity to attend some geneology meetings with Larry in the Trenton and Belleville areas. Our sincere condolences to all of Larry’s family for their loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Larry was a very special friend to us and many others.

As a teacher at Ellwood Memorial P. S. for many years, I have fond memories of Larry who welcomed my classes each year as he personally gave us a tour of his amazing Multi Vans Manufacturing Plant. I have always admired Larry not only as a brilliant business man who pioneered his quality vans, but also as a genuine warm and kind human being. I have never forgot Larry being so enthusiastic and community minded.
