Lola Florine Sparrow

Gently, in her sleep, Florine's spirit took flight on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the Coleman Care Centre in Barrie, Ontario, at age 85. She was a loving mom to Debbi, a caring Aunt to Jennifer (Mike), a beloved stepmother to Kim (Marc), and awesome Nana to Jamie (Julia), Joey, Shane (Matty) and Alex. Florine was born in Stayner, Ontario, moving to Willowdale, North York, in 1949 as a young girl, and it was here, as a single mom, she raised Debbi. She worked hard to support herself and Debbi, supplementing her day jobs with at-home clothing and make-up parties. After working for Dr. Jim Powell, she began a 25-year career as a dental office manager for the late Dr. Martin Rapp. After this, Florine moved to Barrie with her then-partner, Denis, for the last phase of her life. With all her experience, she took her well-developed people skills into retirement, joining the Barrie Welcome Wagon team. If you knew Florine, you knew that she was also a fabulous fashionista, always dressed to the nines and forever remembered as stylish and glamorous. A loyal friend, a devoted Elvis fan and a passionate pet owner, she touched so many lives; it's hard to believe she, like her musical hero Elvis, has finally 'left the building' and will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will occur on Sunday, November 27, 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Traditions Banquet Hall, 142 John Street, Barrie, L4N 2L2. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider donating to an animal shelter or animal charitable organization of your choice.
