With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lorraine Mary Peters, who passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, at the age of 96.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Cyril and Emilda Arsenault and the devoted wife of the late Felix Peters (1994).  Loving mother of Wendy (Paul), and the late Lorna, Wayne, and Owen, and mother-in-law of Marilyn.  Much loved grandma, known as "Mamie," to Tammy, Wayne, Nick, Todd, Taylor, Chelsey; great-grandma of Curtis, Nicole, Zachary, Sarah, Adrianna, Rhyan, Trent, Dylann, Carter; and great-great-grandma of Phoenix, Griffen, Ilana, Maya, and Aurora.  Dear sister of Wally, Junior, Phyllis, and the late Milton, Leonard, and Eddy.  Lorraine will be missed also by her friends at Roberta Place who lovingly called her Miss PEI.

Lorraine grew up in a fishing family in P.E.I., and she carried a deep love for her roots.  She was a woman of faith and a longtime member of St. John Vianney Church since the 1990s.  Strong-willed and feisty, she stood her ground and cherished her family above all else, especially her grandchildren who were her world.

Lorraine had a passion for knitting and crocheting, creating countless treasured pieces throughout her life. She also enjoyed playing bingo and was known for her warm and social nature. In her younger years, she lovingly prepared home-cooked meals for her family, all from memory and without a written recipe.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial mass will be held at St. John Vianney Church, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.  A reception will follow in the Church hall.

I have very fond memories of Lorraine and Felix playing cards with my parents and both families enjoying being together at the “cottage”.
She loved her family and friends.

When Gar and I visited Paul and Wendy, we could count on Lorraine to have a story, especially since she and I had PEI in common. We’ll miss her cheerful smile. One is never quite prepared for losing a mother, a grandmother. She’ll be greatly missed.

I remember as a child hearing Mamie and Papi talking French in the kitchen and always wondered what they were saying. They will always be missed and in my heart. So many loving memories 🥲
