Margaret Jean Williams

February 23, 1924 - April 28, 2021

Funeral Details:

It is with sadness, the family of Margaret (Margie) Williams announce her passing peacefully on Georgian Way, at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Home, IOOF Seniors Home Inc. in Barrie.

Margie was predeceased by her husband Gerald Arthur Williams on May 7,2008 in Vancouver.  Both were raised in Winnipeg, where they lived until the move to the West Coast.  They maintained contact with friends in Winnipeg.  Margie enjoyed living in Vancouver, volunteering at Brock House Society, their many friends, daily walks along Jerico Beach and Kitsilano Beach.

Margie moved to Barrie, Ontario following the death of Gerry.  This allowed her to be close to her daughter, Patti (Mark), grandson Matthew (Marlo), great grandchildren Everly and Emerson.  Grandson Andrew (Holly) great-grandson Hutzen.  She was lovingly known as Nana and Great Nana.

Margie enjoyed reconnecting with her sister-in-law Ray Brown from Kingston and longtime friend and bridesmaid Dorie Howard from Alliston.

She frequently professed how proud and happy she was of her family.  For Mark who on “Nana Days” willingly chauffeured her to appointments.  Matthew and Andrew were very dedicated to their grandmother as evidenced when they sat with her to talk, tease and laugh.  Appreciated were the many videos of their families that were sent this past year.

There was a special bond of friendships with their wives.  Marlo this past Christmas prepared a family photo album.  It also contained pictures drawn by Everly and Emerson.  Most heartwarming will be the memories of Great Nana, Everly and Emerson sitting together enjoying treats.

Holly for her birthday many years ago prepared a display of life events that occurred when she was born, it hung on the wall in her room at the IOOF.  Fortunately, she was able to meet her newest grandchild Hutzen born this past year.  A “patio visit” courtesy of the IOOF.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff on Georgian Way and the entire IOOF Seniors Home for the care and compassion demonstrated over the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date when it is safe to gather again.

In Margaret's honor donations can be made to the IOOF Seniors Homes Inc. 10 Brooks St. Barrie, ON L4N 5L3.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.peacefultransition.ca

We were lucky she lived in Barrie for the last 12 years of her life. Us and her great grandchildren are really going to miss Nana.

We are very saddened by the news of your Mom’s passing – extending our deepest sympathies and praying God’s peace and comfort during this difficult time. Many years we would share Christmas letter’s with your Mom, she was always amused by our stories of Bill’s hunting trips, and we would joke about me using that time as a holiday – I remember the time we laughed about Bill breaking his foot and was unable to go hunting – I told your Mom I now understood why they liked the kill – inside humor of course . Another fond memory was your wedding, when the first time in many/many years all the Brown’s were together under one roof – great memories. Uplifting you and your family in Prayer – hug each other and know it’s from us

Patti, I am so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing.
She was such a very beautiful and special friend to my mom.
I always loved hearing about their adventures together, which always seemed to be full of laughter and love. How wonderful for both of them to have each other for so many years .. a different kind of love than family love.
Wishing you and all your family many happy memories of a very special lady.
    Sincerely, Daphne xo

We are so sorry about the passing of your mom. Our visits to Vancouver and Barrie will be remembered joyfully. We had such wonderful times together, visiting many interesting places. Aunt Margie had a special place in my heart, she was a sweet, wonderful and fun woman to be around. She reminded me so much of my mom! We are praying for God’s peace to surround you and give you comfort during this time of grief.
We send our love, prayers and blessings to you and all of your family.
