Margaret “Peggy” Louise Simpson (Nee Bowman)

June 13, 1939 - March 26, 2022

Funeral Details:

Peacefully at Victoria Village Manor in Barrie in her 83rd year.

Daughter of the late Allan and Lousie Bowman. Older sister to Allan (Bebo, predeceased), Betty. Michael & James.

Peggy was predeceased (2018) by Gordon Simpson her husband of 62 years.

Loving mom to Catherine (Ted), Shari, Kelly & Andrea.

“Gramma Donkey” to Meaghan, Brett, Ashley, Jeff, Amanda, Christopher & Riley.

Cherished great gramma to Elsa, Sadie, Ashley, Stewart, Winston, James, Elizabeth, Emma, Ayden & Hailey.

Mom & Dad bought Claddagh Farm in Shanty Bay in 1972. Together, over the years they bred & exhibited Hunter ponies, Welsh ponies, Jack Russell Terriers, and Irish Wolfhounds. Mom volunteered, for many years, on the Board of Directors and as well as Chairperson of the Welsh Pony Show at Barrie Agricultural Fall Fair.

Mom had a keen eye for decorating & she was a talented artist. She loved crafting, gardening, antiquing, and of course animals.

The family would like to thank Dr. McConvey & the staff at the Victoria Village Manor for their excellent care. And mom’s dear friend Susan Prokopenko for her care and support of mom over the past 21 months.

A graveside service will take place at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 28 Church St.  Shanty Bay, Ont. on Saturday June 11, 2022, at 1:00 pm.  Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 at Claddagh Farm, 2235 Ridge Road West, Shanty Bay. Donations in Peggy’s memory may be made to the Irish Wolfhound Foundation or St. Thomas Anglican Church, Shanty Bay, Ontario.
