Marie Ann (Brosnan) Cyr

Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

Marie lived a full life with her family, and, early years with the Cyr in-laws, whom all loved her dearly.  At 96, Marie passed away in her home at Greenwood Court in Stratford surrounded by loved ones.

A much loved mother to Colette (George), Denise (Gerald), Deborah (Edward), Edward (AnneMarie), Marguerite and Robert (Kimberly).  Beloved sister to Agnes “Terry” Cushnan.  Marie was the proud grandma to Michael, Georgette, Gina (Mathew), Robert, Daniel (Tiffany), Shannon (Jamie), Robert (Kirstin), Gary (Katrina), Edward (Mitch) and Chantal (Dylan).  A loving great grandma to Alexandra, Mackenzie, Carson, Brooklyn, Avery, Maddison, Mackenzie, George, Robbie and Joey.

Marie had an interesting life growing up in Toronto and then living on the east coast in Cape Breton and Newfoundland (Burgeo), as well as, many other locations in Ontario - Sault St. Marie, Desbarats, London, Barrie and Stratford (River Gardens and Greenwood Court Residences).  As a snowbird, she enjoyed the sunny south in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Marie enjoyed many sports including skiing, skating, swimming and in later years lawn bowling and carpet bowing. Games such as Scrabble, Jigsaw Puzzles, Yahtzee, Crokinole and Darts were a favourite pastime as well.  Many years were spent enjoying the games and trips with the wonderful group at the Allandale Seniors Centre in Barrie!  Marie was always an avid reader and there were many visits to the library to find new reading material to satisfy her curious mind.  Most of all, she loved gatherings with her family.  We will all cherish these precious times together.

The family would like to thank Wendy (nurse practitioner), and the nursing/support staff at Greenwood Court for their care and attentiveness over the years during our mother’s residence and especially in her last months.  Also thanks to Chaplin Greg and Miranda for their kindness to the family in the last days and hours to ensure our comfort in this painful time.

We will greatly miss our mother and grandmother and cherish her memory forever.

She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain,

she’s in the air you breathe

with ever breath you take.

She sings a song of hope and cheer,

there’s no more pain, no more fear.

You’ll see her in the clouds above,

hear her whisper words of love,

you’ll be together before long,

until then listen for her song.
