Mary Ann Sharp

Funeral Details: Private family arrangements

Mary Ann Sharp (nee McGuire) passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95 years, at the Grove Park Nursing Home. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Jim Sharp (2003).  She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her children Ann Haines (Frank), Elizabeth Van Dongen (Joe), Michael McConville (Colleen), Aileen McConville, Susan Clarke and the late Catherine (Sean) Coen.  Mary also leaves behind her 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  Mary’s pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met, as well as her great sense of humour in her day-to-day living.  Mary Ann was a strong person who achieved over 40 years of sobriety, true to her Scottish heritage.  Her cheerful attitude and bright smile will be truly missed.  We want to thank all the “amazing” and caring staff at Grove Park Home.

There will be a private Celebration of Life for family at a later date.  Online memories and condolences may be made at www.peacefultransition.ca

Remembered Joy

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free!

I follow the plan God laid for me.

I saw his face, I heard his call,

I took his hand and left it all…

I cannot stay another day,

To love, to laugh, to work or play;

Tasks left undone must stay that way.

And if my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship started, a laugh, a kiss…

Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.

My life’s been full, I’ve savoured much:

Good times, good friends, a loved-one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief-

Don’t shorten yours with undue grief.

Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,

Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.

Sue, we are so sorry for your loss. You were a loving, caring and supportive daughter who was a bright light in your mom’s life. Your mom handled her final years with grace and humour. Love transcends the physical. Love never dies.
God bless you all at this time.
