Mary Eileen Maclean

April 25, 1931 - April 24, 2021

Funeral Details:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an Angel on Earth.  Mary passed away peacefully at home after a very short battle with cancer one day before her 90th birthday.  Daughter of Francis Webb and May Webb (nee Parsons).  Mary Maclean (nee Webb) wife of Robert Maclean (deceased).  Youngest sibling to Lil Dowling, Baden Webb, Olive Wilson and Joyce Ball.  Loving Mother to Marlene Samms, Catherine Davis, Carol Armitage and William Maclean.  Mother in Law to Peter Gliddon, Pamela Maclean, John Davis and Randall Samms (deceased).  Auntie Mary to all of her nieces and nephews and their spouses.

A cherished Grandmother to 9 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.

Nanny to everyone who met her and fell in love with her.  A great friend to all of the Sandy Cove residents.

Mary enjoyed a successful career at the Robert Simpson Company and retired from Household Finance in 1995.  She lived life to the fullest, loved dancing, singing and parties.  For many years Mary organized day trips from Sandy Cove Acres for the residents.  Everyone loved the bus rides to Niagara Falls, St. Jacobs Market and Fallsview Casino.

Mary loved her new found North Carolina family and enjoyed many winters in warm weather these past few years.

In the final days of her life Mary expressed her desire to be reunited with her late brother Baden (Mick) and her great grandson Lucas Derrick who she promised to look after in heaven.

We would like to thank the hospital staff at Royal Victoria Hospital and Dr. Michael McConvey for their compassion and care.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.  Online condolences www.peacefultransition.ca

I can’t imagine a life without your smile, your laugh and the wonderful way you light up a room. The lessons you taught weren’t loud, or perhaps not even on purpose but they were there. From you I’ve learned to love unconditionally, compassion for all and for myself , and to always always be positive because there is definitely always a silver lining.
I am truly a better person having had you in my life for not nearly a long enough time. Rest In Peace Nanny, I know you were welcomed with open arms by the ones you missed the most. Until we meet again
