Max Mervin Tiedeman

December 15, 1932 - July 20, 2023

Funeral Details: At Max’s request, there will be no public funeral or celebration of life

Tiedeman, Max Mervin, of Barrie, formerly of Grand Bend. Max passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, in his 91st year, at his residence in Barrie.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Maureen (Stewart); and his two sons, Chris (Shauna) Tiedeman and Todd. Max was a loving grandpa of Alyssa and Brady. During his lifetime, Max touched the lives of many with his friendly, extroverted nature. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Max had a deep love for his wife, Maureen, and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. They met in July of 1956 at the Wondergrove Roller Rink in Grand Bend, and married the following April. As a father, Max was a constant source of love, support and guidance. He took great joy in coaching hockey, and teaching his sons skills in camping, fishing and building. Being a grandfather brought immense happiness to Max’s life. Alyssa and Brady were the lights of his world. He delighted in their accomplishments and treasured every moment spent with them. Max’s love and presence will forever be engraved in their hearts. Over the years, Max enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, travelling, riding motorcycles, and flying his airplane. He was an ambitious entrepreneur in his many business ventures.  In his later years, he spent countless hours at the Parkview Seniors’ Centre, playing cards and shuffleboard with many friends. His warm smile and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty and strength that will continue to inspire and uplift those who follow in his footsteps.

For those who wish to honour Max’s memory, in lieu of donations or flowers, a random act of kindness to others would be appreciated.
